Saul Fairholm at Champions Dinner

The Saul Fairholm team and guests attended the GMVC Champions Dinner at Lincoln City Football Club last week.

The fantastic fundraising evening was enjoyed with players, coaches and managers from the Conference winning side of 87-88 and last season's National league winning team.

Pictured with the players from the current squad are Saul Fairholm staff: Richard Welsh (holding the trophy), Steve Tointon, Danny Ayling, Steve Kettley & Sally Froggatt along with guests Simon Jenkin and Pete Froggatt.

Saul Fairholm Wear It Pink

The Saul Fairholm team got into the spirit of Wear It Pink day on October 20, and raised more than £100 for Breast Cancer Now.

As well as wearing something pink to work, the team ate a lot of cake and took part in a quiz and raised in total £113.50.

Breast Cancer Now aims to make sure that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer survives.

Saul Fairholm Charity Golf Day 2017

This year's annual Saul Fairholm Charity Golf Day will raise more than £6,500 for charity.

The 2017 event began with a gloom start to the day - a heavy shower for the early starters before the cloudy dispersed and sun broke through for a pleasant end to the day. A total of 28 teams teed off for our ninth annual Charity Golf Day at Retford Golf Club. A full gallery of pictures is available to view on our Facebook page

Top of the leader board was as competitive as usual for the prizes, overall scoring was slightly down and prizes for teams in the eighties.

Winners for 2017, Matt Liddle’s Witham Financial at the ninth attempt on 97 points, one less than last year’s champions Wolseys Wonders, podium positions went to Lincoln GOAT Golf Society - 95 and Jones & Co - 93 points.

Sadly no ‘hole in ones’ and Marc has returned the Lexus IS300h to the Listers Garage. There were 29 bottles of Prosecco for those who hit the green on the 11th, many thanks to Listers Lexus for their kind sponsorship.

The popular putting competition proved a little more difficult this year with only 6 successful putts out of 468 attempts, down from the 11 of last year. Tombola draw, prizes ranging from a bottle of whisky, rounds of golf for four at various courses and sleeves of balls for the winners.

When we finish collecting the money we will have raised more than £6,500 and the proceeds will this year go to Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and the Lincoln Linkage Boultham Park Appeal. Thank you to Phil Barnatt and Julia Wright on behalf of Linkage and the Air Ambulance for giving us a short informative presentation to the work the charities undertake and their fundraising objectives.

We must say a big thank you to all our sponsors, teams, prize donations and to all the team at Retford Golf Club who were once again first class in their support for the day. A special mention must go to Craig, who is an absolute diamond and a massive credit to their club.

Meet our 'mini' knight

We are thrilled to be one of the sponsors of The Nomad Trust Knight in this year's Lincoln Knights' Trail and were delighted to be given our own 'mini' knight to decorate and put on display.

The honour of decorating the knight was given to Eleanor English - daughter of Saul Fairholm director Sarah English - and we think she has done a fantastic job.

Visitors to our Lincoln offices on Tentercroft Street, will be able to admire our knight which is sat in pride of place on our reception desk.

Young people set to benefit from Saul Fairholm charity quiz

More young people in Lincoln are set to benefit after Saul Fairholm's annual quiz raised hundreds of pounds for one of its adopted charities.

Young People

Saul Fairholm presented a cheque for £610 to Lincoln-based charity One Me following its annual charity quiz.

The quiz was held at the city's Home nightclub and saw teams from businesses across Lincoln take part.

Saul Fairholm partner Sarah English said it was wonderful to be able to make another sizeable do-nation to such a great organisation.

"The Saul Fairholm quiz has become something of a favourite fixture for businesses across Lincoln and we were delighted to get such a great turnout again this year," she said.

"It is great to raise money for charity through an event which is really good fun and is such a high-light in the Saul Fairholm calendar."

One Me trustee Mel Holliday said the money would probably be used to help a young person who was about to embark on a course and help them pay for materials.

"Our individual grants are usually about £500 so this is a wonderful amount of money for us to re-ceive from Saul Fairholm," she said.

"This amount of money will help a young person move onto another stage of their development."

"They might be someone who has been thinking about starting sixth form but who was previously unable to fund the purchase of books and materials."

The money is the second donation made by Saul Fairholm to One Me in recent months and follows a cheque for £3,200 given to the charity following our annual charity golf day.

Saul Fairholm is also a co-sponsor of The Nomad Trust knight for the Lincoln Knights' Trail which takes place next month.

Saul Fairholm and the Lincoln Knights' Trail

At Saul Fairholm we're delighted to be involved in sponsoring one of the amazing knights which will feature in the Lincoln Knights' Trail.

The knight Saul Fairholm is co-sponsoring is one of 35 specially commissioned knight sculptures for the trail which will be set up in Lincoln this summer.

The trail has been devised to mark 800 years since the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest.

Saul Fairholm partner Steve Tointon said it was wonderful for the firm to be involved in such a high-profile and unique project.

"We are a Lincoln firm and our heritage and that of the city is something we are incredibly proud of," said Steve.

"We are delighted to be a co-sponsor of one of the 35 knights and we can't wait to see it out and about in Lincoln as part of the Trail, which we hope will be enjoyed by countless people this summer."

Saul Fairholm's sponsorship will raise money for The Nomad Trust - a Lincoln charity which helps and supports those who are homeless or in need.

The trail launches on May 20.

Saul Fairholm celebrates 30 years with client

Saul Fairholm Chartered Accountants are celebrating a working relationship with one of Lincoln's leading manufacturers which has lasted almost 30 years.

Saul Fairholm has supported the business in a variety of ways and has been an 'invaluable partner' in the Witham Group's development.

Witham Group managing director Nigel R Bottom said: "Originally, we had advice and help from Peter Saul, one of the founding partners of the firm.

"Over the last 20 years or so, we have had the benefit of the knowledge and most personal support of Steve Tointon.

"Our group of companies has grown from strength-to-strength and we feel safe in the knowledge that Steve and his team are there to advise us in all that we do."

Nigel said Saul Fairholm have had been the 'eyes and ears' for the Witham Group's business reporting.

"They have also assisted the business with advice on the purchase of premises across the group, research and development assistance, auditing services and advice and administration of the group of companies, shareholding agreements and tax efficiencies," he said.

"We are delighted with the service we receive from Steve and his team and consider the association very much a working partnership.

"Steve recognises the needs and challenges of our manufacturing business and continues to support not only the success of the business but very much the individuals and people involved.

"I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone."

Roger White, director of Saul Fairholm, said it was wonderful to be able to make a donation to Blu-ebell Wood.

"It is a place which offers amazing care and support to children and their families and to be able to give Bluebell Wood this donation is fantastic," he said.

Lincoln accountants tee off and raise £3,200 for charity

Cash raised by a Lincolnshire accountant is to benefit young people across the county who need a little financial help to make their ambitions become reality.

Money raised by Saul Fairholm Chartered Accountants will help fund the futures of some of those struggling to finance their next steps in education or help them move towards employment.

The money was raised at Saul Fairholm's annual charity golf day which saw teams made up of businesses and organisations from across Lincoln take part.

One Me trustee Mel Holliday, said the money would make a 'real difference' to some of the young people the charity helps.

"We help young people by providing financial grants of up to £1,000," said Mel. "The grants give individuals the chance to learn and take advantage of new opportunities."

"Our average grant is between £300 and £500 and can help enhance a young person's education or employability skills.

Director Stephen Tointon presents a cheque

Stephen Tointon, director of Saul Fairholm, which is based on Tentercroft Street, Lincoln, said it was wonderful to make a donation to One Me.

"Our golf day is one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar and we have a lot of fun," said Stephen. "But what's really amazing is the generosity of the teams taking part.

"Our 2016 golf day was a record for us in terms of how much money we raised. We are thrilled to be able to make such a great donation to the One Me charity and know it will help a lot of young people in Lincolnshire."

Saul Fairholm sponsors at Select Lincolnshire Awards 2016

Saul Fairholm Charity Golf Day raises thousands for charity

The hottest day of the year greeted the 24 teams who took part in Saul Fairholm's eighth annual Charity Golf Day.

The annual event was held at Retford Golf Club and as in previous years, competition for the prizes was extremely competitive with just seven points covering the top 10 teams - all scoring 90+ points.

And, as in previous years, the day raised about £7,000 for charity.

The 2016 winners were Wolsey's Wonders with a score of 98. Podium positions went to LCT Properties with 96 and last year's champions Budgens, Bar Lane, were a further point behind to claim third place.

Unfortunately, there were no hole-in-ones so the Lexus IS300h returned to Listers Garage. There were a record 40 bottles of bubbly for those who hit the green on the 11th - 66 per cent higher than we've seen in previous years.

We changed the putting competition to a straight-forward 'hole a long difficult putt' to enter a tom bola draw with prizes ranging from a Lexus for the weekend, a bottle of whisky, rounds of golf for four at various courses and sleeves of balls. Eleven successful puts out of more than 300 attempts.

The money raised from this year's golf day will go to two charities. One of the charities to benefit is OneMe - a Lincoln-based charity which offers support for development programmes like NCS, bursaries for qualifications, start-up costs for new businesses, or actives which will help young people change their life. You can read more about their work by visiting www.oneme.org. The other charity to benefit is Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice www.bluebellwood.org

A big thank you to all our sponsors, teams, prize donations and to Craig and all the team at Retford Golf Club who were once again first class in their support and a credit to their club.
